ROBE lighting launched their new MegaPointe on the 5th of September 2017. However, 55.000 people already saw this powerful beam in action two weeks in advance. The Art of Light was the first to use the MegaPointe and chose to use twelve of them for the mainstage of the first edition of New Horizons in Germany.
Off to a good start
New Horizons opened their doors for the first time on the iconic Nürburgring from 25 to 26 August 2017. The festival, organised by ALDA events, started off big with artists like Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Afrojack, Axwell^Ingrosso and Marshmello on their mainstage. EDM wasn’t the only music genre visitors could dance to. At the 6 other stages, they could also enjoy Hardstyle, Techno, Trance, Trap and Goa.
Powerful lighting
The Art of Light was responsible for creating light designs for all 7 stages and did operating for 6. For this project, they used over 260 ROBE fixtures for 4 different stages. “The choice was easily made for the mainstage”, stated André Beekmans founder of The Art Of Ligh), “With all these amazing artists attending, we wanted to create an extra powerful light setting. The MegaPointe with CMY colormixing seemed to be the perfect choice when it comes to powerful lighting.” Next to the 12 MegaPointes, The Art Of Light also included 50 Pointes, 48 Spiiders and 12 BMFL Blades to create the ultimate light show.
For the other stages they used: 40 Ledbeam 100’s and 30 Spiiders for Trancestonia, 28 Ledbeam 100’s for Traptown and 28 Pointes for Techno.
The premiere of the new MegaPointe at New Horizons was big and powerful. Just like the beam itself. “It is safe to say that the first time working with the MegaPointe was a great success. And it will certainly not be the last time,” André stated.
